Sudanese army says arrested commander of JEM, south Kordofan sector

KHARTOUM, July 21 (Xinhua) -- The Sudanese army said Thursday they arrested a commander of the Justice and Equality Movement (JEM), south Kordofan sector, who formed a military faction for the movement at the Nuba Mountains area which is witnessing armed clashes, Rosetta Stone Languages
official SUNA news agency reported.


"The JEM commander is in custody of the armed forces and he will be presented for the judiciary authorities to be tried in the coming days," SUNA quoted Al-Sawarmy Khalid Saad, spokesman of the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) as saying.


The JEM, the biggest Darfur rebel movement, has earlier said that it attacked a SAF position in South Kordofan state in cooperation with local fighters.


The SAF, however, said in a statement that it repulsed an attack by Rosetta Stone Spanish Latin
the rebels south of Kadogli, capital of south Kordofan state and refuted participation of the JEM in the attack.


South Kordofan state, which is on the north-south Sudan border, has been witnessing, since June 5, armed clashes between the Sudanese army and forces of the Sudan People's Liberation Movement (SPLM) northern sector, led by Abdul-Aziz Al-Hilu.


The JEM has threatened to attack Sudanese capital Khartoum after the Rosetta Stone German V3
Sudan government had signed a peace agreement with the Darfur rebel Liberation and Justice Movement (LJM) in Doha.
